December 16, 2015 – The reported accident on Southwest Flight 31 at BNA (Nashville, TN) has prompted the Aircraft Mechanics Fraternal Association (AMFA) to dispatch an accident investigation “Go Team.” Our Team is currently on location and we are maintaining constant communication with them to support their activity and ensure representation of our craft.  They will work with Southwest Airlines and potentially as a party with the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) investigation team from Washington, DC to determine probable cause.

The goal of AMFA in assisting with this investigative process is to find the exact cause of this most recent event via thorough examination with our expertise and to identify solutions to prevent it from occurring in the future.

AMFA would like to extend our utmost compassion to the passengers and crew of Flight 31.

The Aircraft Mechanics Fraternal Association was established in 1962 as a craft focused union that represents aircraft maintenance technicians and related employees. The motto of the Association is “safety in the air begins with quality maintenance on the ground.” AMFA currently represents technicians and related employees at Alaska Airlines and Southwest Airlines. For more information about AMFA visit www.amfanational.org.
