The Negotiating Committee is providing this update to the AMFA Membership at Southwest Airlines. This report is the only official authorized written source of negotiating communications by the Committee.

At our last session we reached an Agreement in Principle (AIP) for the initial Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) for your workgroup. Over the next several weeks we reviewed the document that was sent to us from the Company. During this review exercise we found several items that would require further discussions with the Company.

We met with the Company in Dallas, Texas on Tuesday, October 4, 2016, to address these issues. We found the majority of the items in question to be administrative oversights as several of our proposals were accepted by the Company in groups and never received individual Tentatively Agreement (TA) signature pages. We also discovered some verbiage missing from the AIP that did not match the TAs that we have in our records. Lastly, there were items that we had to fix based on the information we received from you at our meeting in Dallas, TX last month.

We ended the day working through all of our issues that required attention. The Company will incorporate these changes into a final document, which we will again review as a Committee before sending the AIP to the National Executive Council (NEC) for approval. If approved, the TA will be distributed to the membership and an informational meeting will be scheduled with the group where any questions you have can be answered. After an informational meeting is held with your group, a system-wide referendum will be conducted.

Sincerely,

Your Negotiating Committee
