AMFA Applauds Bipartisan Letter on Inclusion of a Mandatory Drug & Alcohol Testing Policy for Foreign Repair Station Employees in FAA Reauthorization
AURORA, Colo. – February 2, 2016 – Louie Key, National Director of the Aircraft Mechanics Fraternal Association, released the following statement:
"AMFA applauds Congressman Ryan Costello, Congressman Dan Lipinski, and Congressman Lou Barletta’s leadership in requesting House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee Chairman Bill Shuster and Ranking Member Peter DeFazio to include a mandatory drug and alcohol testing policy of foreign repair station mechanics in the upcoming FAA reauthorization.
"For many years, AMFA has been the craft’s leading voice to bring additional safety measures to our counterparts working in foreign repair stations, and today’s bipartisan letter builds upon our efforts to ensure the highest safety standards are in place to protect the American flying public.
"As aircraft maintenance technicians, we are accountable for our work. And the safety of those that travel on our planes is at the forefront of what we do every day. We are hopeful that Congress will act appropriately and include a mandatory drug and alcohol testing policy of foreign repair station mechanics in the FAA reauthorization."
